However, the adsorption capacity of monomolecular colloids formed by monomolecular ferric sulfate is relatively poor. This is one reason why it is not generally used for sewage treatment.

Ferric sulfate is mostly used as analyzer or catalyst, mordant, etc. Polyferric sulfate is mostly used as coagulant in the process of sewage physicochemical coagulation and precipitation. In addition, the price of ferric sulfate is relatively low, because the polyferric sulfate is a high molecular polymer, but the free ferric ion formed by ferric sulfate is more, which is more corrosive than that of Polyferric sulfate.
