Polyferric sulfate has a strong coagulation effect in wastewater. It is a chemical reaction between polyferric sulfate and various organic pollutants after hydrolysis in wastewater, forming dense alum precipitation and forming sludge which accumulates at the bottom of the pond under gravity, and the upper water flows into the next treatment process or is recycled/discharged up to standard. Sludge settled at the bottom of the tank is treated as sludge. In sludge treatment, coagulation and precipitation can also be carried out by adding polyaluminium, polyferric sulfate, polypropylene, etc. to reduce the water content of sludge, so that after sludge treatment, the sludge can be coagulated and precipitated with polyferric sulfate sludge.
Generally speaking, the water content of sludge directly coming out of settling tank is relatively high, which can reach over 80%. The sludge volume is large, the storage space is large, the transportation cost is large and the treatment cost is high. Therefore, sludge treatment will be carried out for sewage treatment with large sludge yield or sludge with toxic, harmful and heavy metals. Coagulant will be added to sludge conditioning before sludge treatment. Polyacrylamide flocculant is the most widely used flocculant for coagulation and precipitation of wastewater sludge. Cationic polyacrylamide is generally used for sludge flocculation, while anions are more used for wastewater flocculation. Although cationic flocculant has good effect, its agent cost is very high. In recent years, it has been replaced by adding coagulant such as polyferric sulfate and polyaluminium chloride at the same time, which greatly reduces sludge treatment cost.
It should be noticed that in sludge coagulation and precipitation treatment, the type and equipment of polyacrylamide used for different physicochemical properties of sludge are also different. The type of polypropylene can be selected according to beaker experiment before adding. In addition, the sludge remaining after the biochemical system reflux may also cause the sludge water separation effect to become worse, which is a good treatment and can be used as biochemical sludge to return to the biochemical tank.
