Polyaluminum chloride is in the form of solid particles. In use, we often encounter the problem of caking. This will lead to too long dissolution time, more impurities, and reduce the use effect. So what should we do?
The molecular weight of the polymer is relatively large. If a large amount of polyaluminum chloride is added at one time, it is difficult to be dispersed and dissolved. As we all know, accelerating the contact area between solute and solvent is an important condition for accelerating the dissolution rate. The reason for the rapid dissolution of powders is that the finer the particles, the larger the solvent contact area with the same solute mass. However, many powders have a certain viscosity after contacting water. It is because of this viscosity that the outer skin of wet polyaluminum chloride is covered with the inner layer of dry polyaluminum chloride, thus greatly reducing the amount of powder. The contact area of polyaluminum chloride with water and when the outer layer dissolves, the inner layer of polyaluminum chloride forms a new "shell", so its dissolution speed is very slow, resulting in extremely low efficiency in using polyaluminum chloride.
To avoid caking, polyaluminum chloride should be stored in a dry and ventilated place. Handle the damaged bag immediately. After caking, it can be broken with a stick without affecting the use effect. It can also be dried in the sun to discharge water.
