What are the preparation methods of PAC

There are many methods to prepare PAC. At present, the only methods to realize industrialized production are alkali method and acid method. The advantages of acid method are simple preparation process, good product stability and less investment. The disadvantage of acid method is that large acid mist will occur during the preparation of PAC. The main disadvantage of alkali process is the poor product stability, because the PAC products prepared by alkali method have more free alkali residues and are easy to produce aluminium hydroxide gel precipitation. At present, acid method is widely used in China. In order to solve the problem of low salinity of its products, a process of alkali adjustment is added after acid preparation, i.e. adding calcium aluminate powder or other alkaline solutions and redundant acids.

According to the different raw materials, there are 6 production methods for PAC.

Six methods for preparing PAC:

1. Aluminum-containing raw materials: There are many aluminium-containing raw materials which can be used to produce PAC, and they can be divided into three categories according to their sources. One is aluminium-bearing mineral raw materials directly obtained from mines, the other is waste residues from industrial and mining sectors, and the other is chemical, metallurgical or semi-finished products.

2. Polyaluminium chloride is produced by one-step acid dissolution of aluminium ash to produce polyaluminium chloride by one-step acid dissolution of aluminium ash, which is one of the manufacturing methods with wide application, low cost and simple equipment in China.

3. Polyaluminium chloride is produced by acid method from clay and bauxite.

4. Polyaluminium chloride from gangue.

5. Preparation of polyaluminium chloride by aluminium hydrochloride gel.

6. Polyaluminium chloride is prepared by mixing bauxite with calcium aluminate.
