Polyferric sulfate and ferrous sulfate are both common chemical agents in sewage treatment. Both are iron-based coagulants which can remove pollutants from wastewater after coagulation and precipitation. It can be said that they are two agents with strong stability and good sewage treatment effect in iron salt system. Although these two substances are very similar in name, there are many differences between them.
1. Different application ranges
Polyferric sulfate is widely used in the purification of drinking water, industrial water, various industrial wastewater, municipal sewage, sludge dewatering, etc., especially for low temperature and low turbidity water. Ferrous sulfate is mainly used in water quality purification and industrial waste water treatment, and has bactericidal effect at the same time.
Polyferrous sulfate is a new coagulant and its main raw material is ferrous sulfate. Generally, the water treatment effect of polyferric sulfate is better than that of ferrous sulfate. Ferrous sulfate, however, is still widely used in the sewage treatment industry due to its lower cost.
2. Different Characteristics
Polyferric sulfate is a pale yellow amorphous powder solid, easily soluble in water, aqueous solution is red-brown transparent solution, hygroscopic. Its pH value is acidic, but it is a non-reducing agent and has no reducing property.
Ferrous Sulfate Sulphuric Acid Productivity A by-product produced during the production of rare metal products whose appearance is specially light green or yellowish green crystalline solids. The PH value in alkaline water can be adjusted by adding the agreed amount to combine organically with suspended matter in water and accelerate precipitation.
3. Removal of wastewater pollutants
Polyferric sulfate, as a coagulant agent in sewage treatment, generates a large number of multinuclear complexes and charged ions after hydrolysis, and performs a series of coagulation reactions such as acid-base neutralization and electric neutralization with suspended colloids in wastewater, achieving the effect of removing pollutants in wastewater. It has strong applicability, wide application, good and stable treatment effect, and much less dosage than ferrous sulfate.
Ferrous sulfate is a low molecular coagulant as well as a reducing agent, decoloring agent and acid-base regulator. But it is not as effective as polyferric sulfate for removing pollutants from wastewater.
