Why do water plants use polyaluminum chloride

The drinking water treatment process of the water company is as follows:

The raw water enters the water distribution well, where large and heavy floating particles settle. The raw water is evenly divided into two parts and enters the sedimentation tank with the help of the pipeline connected with the sedimentation tank. An incoming turbidity detector is set in the water distribution well.

After entering the flocculation tank, the raw water passes through 48 layers of bars, and the water flow is further reduced. The floating objects and colloidal residues in the raw water affect the flocculant, providing flocculent sedimentation, and a part of the sediment is settled in the flocculation tank.

A buffer area is set between the flocculation tank and the settling area to stabilize the water flow and slowly enter the settling area. Inclined pipe filler is set in the settling area, and water enters the inclined pipe from the lower part of the settling area, and the water flow is 2mm / s In the process of rising, the sediment sinks further, and the water flows into the water collecting tank in the settling area and into the water collecting tank through the pipeline.
